"Departure", starring C-3PO and Jar Jar also brings in Dannl Faytonni and Achk Med-Beq, the two characters from the Outlander nightclub played by Anthony Daniels and Ahmed Best, respectively, out of costume in Attack of the Clones. Of course, we get panels where the characters portrayed by the same actors interact face to face. Anyway, Dannl and Achk are on the run from the law and trick Threepio and Jar Jar into giving them Padme's skiff, the Naboo ship she takes to Mustafar in Episode III. Threepio leaves the autopilot on, so the two criminals inadvertently fly it back to the Senate and the waiting Senate Guards. Since the skiff is not accessible, Threepio and Jar Jar tell Padme they're taking the yacht, which is the ship she and Anakin take to Tatooine and Geonosis in Episode II.
Cookie: "Heroes are made by the times." I would guess that's referring to our Bombad Jedi.
I'm sure plenty of EU fans were unhappy Rodia was not covered in jungles. I, for one, welcome planets with biodiversity.
Ahmed Best and Anthony Daniels reprising their roles! Two Star Wars movie actors for the price of one!
Action with a little bit of politics. I think Padme's episodes work better with a formula something like that. Less so when it's politics front and center with a side of action.
Nice to see Gunray's grudge against Padme continues into the TV show.
I like the Jar Jar and Threepio dynamic, contrasting the PT comedic character with the OT's character who served much the same purpose.
The Forcecast guys think Jar Jar and his slapstick fit well in animation. I tend to agree.
Threepio knew something like Jar Jar's death would happen?
"No [Jar Jar]'s gone... forever." Threepio, giving voice to the hopes of countless Star Wars fans.
Well, that explains why Padme's yacht wasn't in Episode III.
Hmmm, why would there be a Jedi robe on Padme's ship? Probably one of those mysteries kids will figure out when they rewatch this episode in 10-15 years.
Okay, Threepio gets some good one liners in this one.
Jar Jar finds a Dagobah Swamp Slug! Or, at least it looks like a Dagobah Swamp Slug. Cool design, IMO.
That's a lot of "Rogers".
"The ship has been destroyed." "Battle droids?" "No." "Jar Jar?" "Jar Jar."
I still think this is probably the best Jar Jar-heavy episode. And one of the better Padme episodes, too.
That's twice they think Jar Jar's been killed.
Jar Jar even gets to be the Big D**n Hero in this one, along with his giant slug pal. I like that they stay true to the character yet still give him an episode to shine.
Next: Gunray's journey into custody continues and a new Jedi gets the focus in "Cloak of Darkness"!
