The webcomic before this one is “Prelude”. Little introduction to our three clone characters in the episode, Jek, Rys, and Thire as they get their mission to accompany Yoda to meet the Toydarians. They also mention a General Ares who plays a part in the next episode’s comic. Skytop Station, where Anakin and Ahsoka go to rescue Artoo from Grievous in “Duel of the Droids” opens for business and explains how Dooku found out about the meeting between Yoda and Katuunko. Also references to the treaty the Republic made with the Hutts in the movie and a mention of the Malevolence.
Our first fortune cookie!: “Great leaders inspire greatness in others.” Obviously referring to Yoda, particularly in that cave scene, I’d think.
Starting the series with Yoda is probably a good move. He’s a popular movie character, so centering one around him makes sense.
Kotuunko was the first Toydarian I heard not voiced by the guy who did Watto (he also did a voice in KOTOR II of another Toydarian). Very regal.
I like the design of the coral moon. Any sci-fi planets with a clear ancient history as that one has are always interesting to me.
Asajj has some icy blue eyes.
That battle droid aim must be terrible if the clones are confident enough to just walk out from behind the coral and start shooting out in the open.
IMO, “clankers” is a superior droid nickname to “tinnies”.
Gotta love the cave scene. Yoda’s theme, doling out some Jedi wisdom, giving the clones advice, individuality, and encouragement. It’s a good opening for the series and Tom Kane is a very good Yoda.
Yoda vs. the droids is a great action scene. For some reason, I really like the shot of Yoda under the tank cutting into it.
Destroyer droids seem so useful, I can’t believe Palpatine never found a way to use them in the Empire.
Yoda doesn’t have much trouble with Ventress, does he?
There’s some regret in that “my fallen apprentice” line. Well done. Much like our first episode as we go out on Yoda’s theme one last time.
