It will be very interesting to see what they do with these. I know EU fans will probably revolt, but many of them (i.e. those who make forum posts) take things a little too seriously anyway. The EU is so vast that I really wouldn't mind some of it being expunged by onscreen content.
In any case, I don't know what it'll be like to see our Star Wars heroes 30 years older. Might be a little weird, but still fun. Disney has certainly had some hits (Pirates, Pixar) and misses (other Pirates films, Prince of Persia which I actually liked, John Carter), but I'm still excited to see these films when they come out. One thing The Clone Wars has shown, I think, is that you can tell onscreen stories that explore various aspects of the Star Wars universe without necessarily having a galaxy-shaking story focused around the main characters. I'd love to see Episodes VII, VIII, and IX cover the big stories, like the Avengers, while having smaller, single-character films complementing them. We'll see, I suppose.
