Cookie: “Where we are going always reflects where we came from.” On the surface, you might initially think of Ahsoka since this episode deals with a Togruta colony. But it doesn't take long to realize it applies even more to Anakin, as he is reminded of his past in slavery, taking him to a darker place going forward.
This trilogy is adapted from a comic series Henry Gilroy wrote shortly after the series debuted as a tie-in. It put the canon in a weird place back before the EU became Legends because in old C-Canon, this story essentially took place twice with a few differing details. Only one is true canon now, of course.
I'm surprised there wasn't time to evacuate this pacifist colony before the war reached them. Maybe the front got there too quickly. On the other hand, a small neutral colony might have been low on the Republic's list of priorities.
The shot underneath the star destroyer is pretty cool.
Rear guns. What a novel concept!
Can't help but wonder why the droid tanks weren't already set to fire when the Republic forces first showed up. You'd think the bike droids engaging them would be enough of a warning for the rest of the droid forces.
Hey Boil! At least you're still with us. RIP, Waxer. Again.
Nice to see we're getting some development with Anakin's childhood as a slave. Not sure Lanter quite pulls it off, at least with that first line. He gets better throughout the arc, though.
Bit of a risk just lightsabering a bomb. But okay.
I'm also surprised the Separatists didn't set up some kind of alert when their bombs start getting disabled.
Well, at least the droid tried to let him know. Though not very quickly.
The droideka snipers are a nifty new design. I'm always surprised the Empire didn't keep using some of the battle droid designs, especially the destroyers and their variations.
Tough episode for old Obi.
The Force Unleashed style implosion of the droids is pretty cool. I wonder why the Jedi don't use that one more often.
Those Jedi can really jump.
Funny that they don't show us the Ahsoka fight at all. By the time Anakin gets up there, she's taken care of things. Budget? Time?
And the Sith are behind it! Well, other than just Dooku. Twist!
Next, the search continues for “Slaves of the Republic”!
