Cookie: "Who's the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?" Is this referencing one of the droids? Because maybe Artoo "follows" Threepio on first glance, but we all know it's Artoo that drives everything. And that droid is no fool.
Okay, the droids go Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead in this one. Let's see how many references (other than that one) we can spot.
Senatorial banquet. Sounds right up Threepio's alley.
No wonder Threepio hates space travel. Always being attacked. Though his mind is wiped after this. Maybe it's instinct, stays with him.
Observing and standing amongst a pitched battle. Very similar to A New Hope's opening.
Always wondered how good of a pilot Artoo is by himself. Pretty good by the looks of it. He even attacks the droid fighters. Which I guess given its pilots, the Y-wing basically is, too.
The top cannon on the Y-wing was an ion cannon in Legends. Looks like it's the usual gun in this case.
These aliens are quite obviously miniature when watching in hindsight.
Amazing that the little primitive warriors have just the weapons to take down droids.
Gulliver's Travels reference.
The Big Heyzoo has a lot of Eric Cartman in him. Can't imagine the “MY AUTHORITY?!?!” line is a coincidence.
Little bit of a Wizard of Oz reference with the joy of the Big Heyzoo;s death. Won't be the last.
Okay, not as primitive as I thought. They clearly have had offworld travelers and know how to fix a spaceship.
Like many fledgling democracies, discord right off the bat.
This system has some really close planets. That, or Y-wings have amazingly fast sublight speeds. Or there's a time jump we didn't see.
Threepio actually trusted Artoo's scanners back here. He'd changed his wiped mind by the time of Tatooine, apparently.
And now, an even more blatant Wizard of Oz reference. The droids behind the curtain...
A murderous droid behind the curtain.
Repair droids. Perhaps the only droids more incompetent that battle droids in the prequel era.
Well, looks like those aliens blew themselves up getting revenge.
The droids losing power is actually kind of depressing.
The most pirate-sounding Weequay ever.
And Grievous becomes the droids' unwitting savior.
Seems like an astromech could be reprogammed and used by Grievous. Gonk droids, too. But, nope! Incinerator!
Plo Koon to the dramatic rescue!
Droids and clonetroopers both standing out in the open and neither get a hit. I guess the clonetrooper marksmanship really DID start a tradition.
And with that, our droid two parter ends.
Next, lose sight in the “Darkness on Umbara”!
